Wagin Water Supply Improvement Project

Published on Thursday, 21 September 2017 at 12:00:00 AM

Work is currently underway to improve the reliability of supply to the towns of Wagin and Katanning and to provide adequate water storage for Wagin. This work involves constructing 11.2 km of new water supply pipeline in the Shire of Wagin within the road reserves and farmland properties along Great Southern Highway, Badgarning Road, Reeves Road, Rifle Street and Beaufort Road. To install this new pipeline, traffic along some roads will be impacted.

The following impacts will occur as a result of the pipeline excavation and tunnelling work.

  • Badgarning Road excavation work Full road closure from Monday 18 September - Monday 9 October 2017. Detour via Arthur Street.

  • Ballagin Road excavation work Traffic limited to one lane from Thursday 28 September - Saturday 30 September 2017. During work hours traffic will still be able to flow in both directions under a stop/go arrangement. Lanes will be backfilled at the end of every shift and reopened in both directions at night, with after hours traffic management in place.

  • Moore Street excavation and tunnelling work Full road closure from Wednesday 4 October - Monday 9 October 2017 and again from Tuesday 24 October - Saturday 4 November 2017. Detour via Rifle North Street.

  • Great Southern Highway excavation and tunnelling works Pipe being installed on southbound side of road, heading into Wagin town from Wednesday 4 October - Monday 4 December 2017. Traffic will still be able to flow in both directions under stop/go traffic lights at all times.
