Litter Control

Litter is unsightly and detracts from the image of our Shire. Littering is an offence and incurs large penalties for offences such as transporting an inadequately secured load, dumping of litter and allowing litter to escape from a vehicle.

Littering is an offence. Offenders will be issued infringements and if prosecuted a maximum penalty of $1,000 may apply.

To reduce the opportunity of littering, Council will ensure that it has multiple Authorised Officers to enforce the Litter Act 1979 and would welcome community members that would be interested in becoming honorary Authorised Officers.
