Regional Airports Program Round 2 – Funding Success!!
The Shire of Wagin is excited to receive funding from the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications, Regional Airports Program Round 2 to the tune of $298,755 to seal the north/south runway.
This project will deliver a new long north/south runway to complete the airstrip that is currently already sealed east/west. The new sealed runway will provide growth with valued resources that come to the region including RFDS, private aircraft, local aero club, model jets and other integral community services that utilise the facility.
Forecast for the completion of this project is scheduled for summer of the 2022/23 financial year.

Wagin Airstrip has also become a hub for model planes, with regular visits from the Western Australian RC Jet Society, and some of their fabulous creations - seen above. The boeing is a perfect replica of the real thing and is often seen in Wagin. Keep an eye on the sky to see when they are here.
