Local Government Elections

Council operates under a 4 x 2 Electoral Cycle which simply means Councillors are elected for 4 year terms and elections are held every two years - where half the Council will be up for election.

Council elections are now conducted on the First Past the Post System, whereby the person with the most votes is elected - no preferences are required. Council elections are held on the third Saturday in October every second year. This years ordinary Council election was held on 19 October 2019.

Offices vacant and terms of office Five (5) x 4 year terms and one (1) x 2 year terms.

Five nominations were received during the nomination period an as a result the five candidates were elected un-opposed.

As the Shire has 1 vacancy to fill an Extra Ordinary Election has been called for Friday 17 January 2020 to fill this two year term.

Nominations open on Wednesday 4 of December and close on Wednesday the 11 of December at 4 pm.
