Local Government Elections

Council operates under a 4 x 2 Electoral Cycle which simply means Councillors are elected for 4 year terms and elections are held every two years - where half the Council will be up for election.

Council elections are now conducted on the First Past the Post System, whereby the person with the most votes is elected - no preferences are required. Council elections are held on the third Saturday in October every second year.

At the close of nomination for the 2021 Local Government Elections, three (3) nominations for the the four (4) vacancies were received. The candidates who nominated were declared elected. As there is one (1) vacancy remaining there is a requirement to conduct an extraordinary election.

Council will conduct an extraordinary election on Friday 17th December 2021 for one (1) vacancy for a four (4) year period to October 2025.
