Shire receives perfect score for Age Care Services
The Shire of Wagin has received a perfect eight out of eight in an assessment by the Commonwealth Government’s Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission for the Shire’s Home Care Packages and Commonwealth Home Support Program.
The results were presented in a Performance Report following a recent routine Quality Audit undertaken by the industry regulator.
The Report found that the Shire was compliant in all eight standards covering matters such as consumer dignity, assessment and planning, personal care, service environment and organisational governance.
The results reflect the investment that the Shire has made into Home Care for forty years in its various forms to support the Shire’s elderly maintaining their lifestyle in Wagin in their home.
In response, Shire President Philip Blight said:
“The results demonstrate the commitment of the Shire’s Home Care team who go above and beyond to provide tremendous support and compassion.”
“Despite the size of the Shire, the team is able to deliver high quality services to more than 80 clients. This is 80 people who because of the Shire’s service are able to live in the district and contribute to our community.”
The Shire’s commitment to Home Care services was reinforced with the establishment of dedicated offices at the Shire’s former Town Hall which allow for the hosting of social events for clients and privacy for clinical matters. In the 2024-25 budget, Council allocated funding for the replacement of three vehicles used to transport clients.
